The world of virtualization and computing has really come together and there are many tools for running virtual systems on your desktop/servers.
Here is a part of a presentation for a users group that dates back to 2002 on the tools for PC/Linux Virtualization - even back then there were many options:
Since that time frame Microsoft has released a couple of tools for doing virtualization:
Both are available for free and communicate different areas - Virtual Server is geared towards larger scale virtualization and Virtual PC is geared towards the user and running one Virtual PC at a time.
Recently Microsoft updated a listing of the VHD’s (Virtual Hard Drives) that you can download for use with either of these programs. These VHD’s are images of operating systems software test versions etc. They allow you to get a taste of a new system or schedule without installing it right on your nice working computer!
Check out all of the VHD’s currently available:
The Microsoft VHD change is the common virtualization file change that provides a furnish product give system and provides more seamless manageability security reliability and cost-efficiency for customers.
Using the power of virtualization you can now quickly evaluate Microsoft and partner solutions through a series of pre-configured Virtual Hard Disks (VHDs). You can download the VHDs and evaluate them for remove in your own environment without the need for dedicated servers or complex installations.[ADVERTHERE]Related article:
