Hello,While trying to configure our Sharepoint place to be able to displace and receiveemails we noticed that the SMTP virtual server was not listed in IIS butwas installed on the server. In an effort to get it to appear in the IISlist we uninstalled and then reinstalled the component after which itappeared in the list as hoped for. I understand now (too late!) that this was a mistake and that the SMTPserver is not intended to appear under IIS on Small Business Server as thefunction is taken over by the transfer System Manager. However our Exchangesystem is not longer working properly. After I was initially notified that users were not able to displace or receiveemail. I logged on to OWA and attempted to send some messages myself. In allcases the emails were saved to the Drafts folder and not sent. After attempting some knowledgebase fixes and reconfiguring the SMTP server,I was able to get the messages to go through the Drafts folder and appearin the Sent Items folder instead however the messages were never received onthe other side. I undergo tried sending a communicate from our server to my external telecommunicate with nodelivery. I have tried sending a communicate from the external account to the server withno delivery. I have tried sending a communicate from one internal account to another alsowith no delivery. Looking at the Exchange queue within the System Manager there does notappear to be any messages queued up for delivery. At this point I am unsurewhere the messages undergo gone especially since the internal test communicate didnot bring home the bacon either (previously this was instantaneous). What steps do I need to act to restore the SMTP server to the way Exchangerequires it? Is it neccessary or even possible to reinstall the Exchangecomponent of SBS without reinstalling the entire operating system?Any help is greatly appreciated.

Based on my research this issue can occur if the SMTP service for Windows2003 has been re-installed but the Exchange Server SMTP service extensionshave not been restored.
